Windy is Polly's sixth foal, fourth
filly and so far the strangest colour... I'm not sure if she'll be a
super dark buckskin or perhaps a smoky black when she sheds out, but time
will tell! Honestly though, it sure is difficult to take a good picture of
this girl! That colour always makes her look like she's been either rolling
in the mud, or caught in a rain storm... then again in some of them maybe
she has....
December 2006 - Well Windy has now been colour tested by
the labs at UCDavis and she is in fact a buckskin. She is also homozygous
for the black gene which means that she cannot ever produce a sorrel,
palomino or cremello. She can however produce any black based colour out
there like bay, buckskin, black, perlino....
What I DO know about Windy is that she
is leggy, elegant and super friendly with a lot of spunk and energy. She
does everything at top speed, definitely displaying her racing heritage.
Windy has proven
all our predictions and is growing into a beautiful mare. She is two
now, filling out and while she may not quite reach the 15.3 we had
originally anticipated, she certainly is going to be over 15h at
maturity. She is still leggy, with a beautiful hip, elegant neck and
movement to die for. New photos added, summer 2008.
